The DFW AHEC works to foster healthy behavior development in individuals, groups and communities. Our programs include:
Ventanilla de Salud
Ventanilla de Salud, which translates into Health Window, a health literacy program of the Institute for Mexicans Abroad. The DFW AHEC serves as the lead agency and partners with community organizations to deliver culturally competent health education and referrals to low-cost providers for Hispanics in North Texas. Community Health Educators Coalition (CHEC)
Established by Parkland Health & Hospital System Community Oriented Primary Care Clinics (COPC), CHEC is a collaborative organization focused on community health education in the greater Dallas area. It's mission is to provide a network of community and public health educators dedicated to improving the health and wellness of people in the metroplex. There are no dues for membership and anyone is welcome to join. Meetings occur on the 2nd Wednesday of every other month from 11 am - 1 pm. For membership, contact: DallasCHEC@yahoo.com.

Other Services Offered by DFW AHEC
We offer both free and low-cost health literacy presentations (including fun, hands-on exercises) for groups large and small. DFW AHEC also designs custom health education programs for use with certain populations. Contact Luis Mejia (Staff) to discuss presentations in areas such as: sexually transmitted diseases, communicable diseases and handwashing, diabetes management and nutrition, tobacco education, and
oral health education.
